The Port of Avatiu or Avarua (Port Code: CKAVA) is the principal port of the Cook Islands, located on the north of the island of Rarotonga, which is the national capital of the Cook Islands. The wharf length is 260 m and the storage area has 2,240 square meters covered area.
Newly redeveloped and opened in 2013, Avatiu harbour now provides a greater capacity to cater for larger vessels and the deeper harbour entrance and turning circle allows for larger vessels to berth in the harbour. The port handles about 90% of food imports and 100% of the country’s fuel supply.
