Calais Port (port code: FRCQF) is the most important cross Channel ferry terminal on the French side of the Dover Strait and the busiest ferry crossing between France and England. It is situated on the north coast of France, on the southeast side of the Dover Straits.
The port is primarily a ferry and Ro-Ro vessel port but there are also facilities for the handling of general cargo, bulk carriers and cruise vessels. The port is connected with the national and European waterway system via a canal able to accommodate 300t barges.
The port handles approximately 38 million tons of cargo, 1.6 million cars and trucks, and 10.5 million passengers annually. The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are cargo vessels, accounting for about 41%; and fishing vessels, taking up around 15%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 216 meters. The maximum draught is 8.4 meters. The maximum deadweight is 33,471t.
