Port of El Bluff (port code: NIELB) is a very small port in Nicaragua. It is located in the Nicaraguan Caribbean, within the Bay of Bluefields; at the mouth of the Río Escondido, 11 kilometers behind from the city of Bluefields and 382 kilometers from the capital, Managua.
The port has a 160-meter-long quay, a marginal type of reinforced concrete, and a sheet pile also made of concrete with a depth of 5 meters. It has a suitable terminal to serve 1500 GRT ships that transport diesel. It has a cellar of 120 x 20 meters. It also provides pilot services to boats heading to and from Puerto El Rama, 90 kilometers upstream from the mouth of the Río Escondido. At the national level, it provides service to the cabotage cargo and international to the export of shrimp through refrigerated containers.
This port handles exports of shrimp, lobster, frozen meat and wood in small quantities, as well as petroleum derivatives, such as diesel and gasoline. All vessels calling at the port are cargo vessels. With a maximum draught of 3.1 meters and a maximum deadweight of 2800t being allowed, the maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 95 meters.
