Essen port (port code: DEESS) is a small port in Germany. It is located on the Rhine helne canal, 16.6-16.9 kilometers away from the city canal.
The port is an important transfer point for economy and industry to and from Essen and Oberhausen. It consists of a parallel port along the canal terminal. These two facilities have a total surface area of 63,000 square meters. It also has open areas for bulk cargo to connect with railways.
The port mainly handles bulk cargo, including solid, fossil fuels, petroleum, chemical products, stone, land and steel. Of particular importance are recyclable products.
