Famagusta port (port code: CYFMG) is the main port in Northern Cyprus. It is situated on the east coast of Cyprus.
The port has facilities for handling break bulk, containers and dry bulk. Part of the outer harbour of this port is used as a free port; adjacent is the industrial free zone with a maximum development area of 554,964 square meters. The free port and zone are managed by the free Port Manager who is responsible to the Board of Directors and functions under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The port handles all types of cargoes excluding petroleum products which are handled by a special terminal operated by the Cyprus Turkish Petroleum Co, at the port of Kalecik.
Each year approximate 420 vessels visit the port annually, among which about 66% are general cargo vessels, 12% are Ro-ro cargo vessels, and 8% are Ro-ro passenger vessels. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 181 meters. The maximum draught is 7 meters. The maximum deadweight is 9,287t.
