Funakawa Port (Port Code: JPFNA) is a port situated on the Northwest coast of Honshu in Akita Prefecture on the peninsula between Akita and Noshiro, Japan. The port is divided into three areas as follows: Area 1 contains several large log ponds. Area 2 contains all of the main berths available in the harbour. Area 3 consists of all the other waters within the port limits and its main facility the Akita Sekiyu Sea Berth which serves the Akita Oil Storage Base. With the opening of the railroad, the main commodities handled include oil, timber, logs and iron ore. It has flourished as a transportation hub since the days of the Kitamae ships. It is also used as an evacuation port for coastal navigation vessels and serves as an energy port. Approximatley 760 vessels and 664,600t of cargo are handled annually.
