Galle port (port code: LKGAL) is the main port of southern Sri Lanka. It is situated on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, about 130 kilometers away from Colombo Airport.
The port consists of an artificial harbour area of 320 hectares and operates throughout 24 hours. The principal imports to this port are rice, flour, fertilisers, cement clinker and gypsum. There are no exports.
Approximately 120 vessels visit the port annually, among which about 78% are fishing vessels and around 8% are pleasure craft. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 190 meters. The maximum draught is 5.9 meters. The maximum deadweight is 10,074t.
