Kannur Port (port code: INCAN / INKNN), formerly known as Cannanore Port, is a subport of Calicut. It is situated close to Kannur town, along the Malabar Coast on the Arabian Sea.
The port was a centre of coastal trade till the middle of twentieth centaury and was an important port on the Arabian Sea which carried out trade with Persia and Arabia in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. It was also the British military headquarters on India's west coast up to 1887. Now the harbour is solely used for fishing activities.
As a small ancient seaport, the port has a break water at Mopla bay where a fishing harbour is situated. The nearest all-weather seaport is Mangaluru in Karnataka state.
