The Port of Lancaster (Port code:GBLAN) was located at the lowest crossing point on the River Lune and constitutes the central element of maritime Lancaster in north-west England. It dates back to Roman times, but nowadays is based at Glasson Dock. The Lancaster Port Commission is the Competent Harbour Authority for Glasson Dock and operates the Pilotage Service using the pilot vessels ‘Gertrude’ and ‘Trelawney’. Cargoes handled include animal feedstuffs, fertilizers, aggregates and special cargoes, through the main port user, Glasson Grain Ltd.
