Makhachkala port (port code: RUMCX) is a medium-sized commercial port in Russia. Located on the southwest coast of the Caspian Sea in the Dagestan Republic, it is the only ice-free Russian port on the Caspian Sea.
This port consists of two harbours, dry cargo with fishing port and oil port. Both areas are protected by breakwaters. Its Sea trade port handles 7,000,000t of oil products, 1,500,000t of mineral construction cargo, 400,000t of general and timber cargo as well as up to 50,000t of ore concentrate annually. While its fishing port handles over 80,000t of fish products including fish meal.
The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are cargo vessels, accounting for about 37%; and fishing vessels, taking up about 28.5%. With a maximum draught of 5.7 meters and a maximum deadweight of 13,030t, the maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 151 meters.
