Manatee Port (port code: USMEE) is the closest U.S. deep-water seaport to the Panama Canal. It is situated on the east shore of Florida’s Tampa Bay, just nine nautical miles (16 kilometers) south-southeast of St. Petersburg, and about 21 nautical miles (34 kilometers) southwest of Tampa.
Covering approximately 70 acres of laydown area and a warehouse of more than 1 million square, the port has almost 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) of berthing space for ocean-going vessels and facilities for handling break bulk, container, liquid and dry bulk.
More than 10 million tons of cargo moving through the port each year include a broad range of commodities, representing imports and exports to countries of Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The primary imports include tropical fruits and vegetables, citrus juices and beverages and so on. The principal exports are finished phosphate products, citrus Juices, etc.
