Methoni (Port Code:GRMET) has always been an important port and one of the most powerful cities of the Peloponnese through the ages. Methoni is located at the southwestern end of the Peloponnese, just a few miles from the vibrant port city of Pylos and the booming Gulf region around Navarino. The rock protected the port of Methoni and at the same time stopped the large sea turbulation. During the Byzantine years it continued to remain a remarkable harbour and one of the most important cities of the Peloponnese, home of the bishop.
