The Port of Mostyn (Port Code:GBMOS) is privately owned and is one of the oldest ports in the country, having in the past handled cargoes including steel, coal, timber, woodpulp, animal feedstuffs and fertilizers. Located in the central Irish Sea where it has been a significant trading point between the U.K. and Ireland for over 400 years. Nowadays it specialises in the assembly and installation of wind turbines and has been involved in the construction of North Hoyle, (Constructed 2003–2004), Burbo Bank (2006–2007), Rhyl Flats, (2008–2009) Gwynt y Môr (2012–2015) and part of the work involved in the Robin Rigg and Walney windfarms. With recent expansion and modernisation Mostyn has been developed to become one of Europe’s most important ports for the offshore renewable energy sector.
