The Port of Novorossiysk (port code: RUNVS) is the biggest Russian seaport and one of the largest ports in the Black Sea basin. At 8.3 kilometers, Novorossiysk has the longest berthing line among all the ports of Russia. The port consists of several areas: three cargo terminals (East, West, and Central), a passenger area, and the Sheskharis oil harbour.
In 2021, the cargo turnover of the Port of Novorossiysk amounted to 105.2 million tons. The port mainly handles grain, coal, mineral fertilizers, timber, oil and oil products, food, and general cargo. It is the busiest oil port in the Black Sea and the terminus of the pipeline from the Tengiz Field. Also, it is the final destination for several international highways, such as the Trans-Siberian Railway, TRACECA, and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
The Port of Novorossiysk sprawls along the shore of the Tsemes Bay (also called Novorossiysk Bay), an ice-free bay that allows navigation year-round. However, the hazardous bora wind during winter occasionally interrupts navigation at the port.
