Patmos (Port Code:GRPAI) is a commercial / ferry and cruise port. It is situated on an island of the same name in the Aegean, approx 145nm ESE of Athens. The port has one quay with facilities mainly for small boats only. It is protected from southeast by a short stone breakwater projecting northeast from the shore. Cruise ships to Patmos Island dock (anchor) at Skala Patmos - port town on the central-eastern coast.
Around the 16 th century Patmos was one of the most important commercial ports in the Mediterranean it was originally made up of warehouses and maintenance facilities for local and incoming ships. The buying and selling of loot from pirates and the making and export of woman's stockings and embroidery were the major economical assets to the island and its people.
