Raahe Port (Port Code: FIRAA) is a port located on the western coast of Finland, in the Gulf of Bothnia, approximately 30nm southwest of Oulu. The port is the fourth largest and one of the busiest ports in Finland, thanks to its scheduled routes all year round, excellent rail and road connections, and its certified customer-oriented service. It consists of three berthing areas, Rautaruukki to the north,which handles the steel works' products, and at the southwestern end of Lapaluoto, which handles bulk cargoes. The berths are protected by two detached breakwaters. Helmi Pier, along a short side channel, is an iron ore discharging berth. The port has built a new 355-meter-deep water quay and the depth of the shipping channel has been increased from 8.0m to 10.0m. Imports include coal, iron ore, limestone, containers and heavy fuel. Exports are mainly timber, containers and steel. Approximately 852 vessels, 5,750,000t of cargo and 4,579TEU are handled annually.
