The Port of Tórshavn (port code:FOTHO) is the largest and busiest of the many harbours dotted throughout the Faroe Islands (autonomous territory of Denmark). It is also the largest port in the Faroe Islands for containerised cargo. It is a major base for North Atlantic fishing vessels, with facilities to handle containers, Ro-Ro, cruise ships and ferries. Every week, container services link Tórshavn directly with Iceland, Scandinavia, Continental Europe and the UK. As cruise port, Torshavn is the gateway to 17 uninhabited islands. Alternatively, smaller-sized ships may dock at Kollafjordur (on Streymoy's central-eastern coast) or Vestmanna (on Streymoy's central-western coast).
