Tuticorin Port (Port Code: INTUT) is an artificial international port in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. As a strong strategic place in India, it serves the State of Tamil Nadu, a very industrialized region of southern India. It is one of the 12 major ports in India. It was declared to be a major port on 11 July 1974. It is the second largest port in Tamil Nadu and third largest container terminal in India.
Covering a land area of 2150 acres (870.75 hectares), it has 13available berths, 7 wharfs and 3 piers. With more than 1100 staff, it mainly handles the importing of coal, Cement, fertilizers, raw fertiliser materials, rock phosphate, petroleum products, petroleum coke, and edible oils and exporting of general cargo, building materials, liquid cargoes, sugar, granite, limonite ore.
