Ushuaia Port (Port Code: ARUSH) is a port located on the southern side of the island of Tierra del Fuego in the Beagle Channel. It is the southernmost port of Argentina and the South American Continent. General cargoes are mostly shipped in containers. In recent years Ushuaia has become a major gateway to Antarctica during the southern summer for cruise vessels. There is also an important naval base at Ushuaia, with a small floating dock. The port installations consist of the principal pier, known as the Government or Commercial Quay and the nearby Orion Petroleum Jetty, used by coastal tankers.
It is also the homeport/departure port for most roundtrips to the UK's Falkland Islands and a major port of call included in many voyages in South America. In season 2008-2009, ~95% of the Antarctic cruise ship tourism was concentrated here. Ushuaia's busy cruising season starts in November and ends in March.
