The Port of Vladivostok (port code: RUVVO) is the largest port in the Russian Far East and also the largest Russian port on the Pacific coast, with an annual cargo turnover exceeding 12.9 million tons. It has 15 berths with a depth of 10-15 m, 2 truck checkpoints, and more than 200 units of cranes and other special equipment.
Vladivostok is the largest city and the administrative center of Primorsky Krai, located between Amur Bay and Ussuri Bay, approximately 45 kilometers from the China–Russia border. It is also the terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railway, making it an important cargo and passenger port. Since Vladivostok has a temperate monsoon climate and the Kuril Cold Current passes through it, the winter icing period lasts for 100 to 110 days (from early December to mid-to-late March next year), and icebreakers are required to navigate during this period.
On June 1, 2023, Russia opened the port of Vladivostok to China as a cross-border transit port for domestic trade shipments in Northeast China's Jilin Province. Now, goods in Heilongjiang's Suifenhe and Jilin's Hunchun would only have to be transported about 200 kilometers to Vladivostok and then shipped to southern China by sea.
