Akita Airport (IATA code: AXT, ICAO code: RJSK), is one of two main airports in Akita Prefecture, the other being Odate-Noshiro Airport. It is a regional /second class airport located 14 km (8.7 mi) southeast of Akita Station in the city of Akita, in Akita Prefecture, Japan. It was the first civilian airport in the Tōhoku region of Japan to have a 2500-meter runway.
There are direct domestic flights to Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya and Hakodate from Akita airport. Akita Airport continues to operate chartered flights to Korea, Taiwan and China, but scheduled international flights must be reserved through a different international airport, such as Narita.
