Yazd-Shahid Ayatollah Sadooghi Airport (IATA code: AZD, ICAO code: OIYY), also known as Shahid Sadooghi Airport, is an airport serving the city Yazd as well as all of the surrounding counties. The airport lies in the west of Yazd city in Yazd province, 10 kilometers away from the city center of Yazd and covers an area of 575 hectares.
The Shahid Sadooghi Airport serves as a part of the important North-South transportation corridor within the Islamic Republic of Iran. Even though the airport does not have an international status, there are occasional charter flights as well as scheduled passenger services to neighboring countries such as Iraq and Syria. Furthermore, the airport provides routine international service to Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj season.
The airport is currently the tenth airport in the country in terms of air and passenger traffic, handling about 550,000 passengers with about 6,000 passenger departures each year. There are an average of 20 passenger flights (landing and take-off) per day.
