Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport (IATA code: BAQ, ICAO code: SKBQ) is an airport serving the area of Barranquilla, the capital city of the Atlántico department in Colombia. Located in the suburban municipality of Soledad, 12 km (7 miles) from the center of Barranquilla, the airport is the most important airport in the northern part of the country in terms of infrastructure and the first in terms of cargo movements.
The airport has two terminals: the domestic terminal, with gates 6-13, and the international terminal, with gates 1-5 and 5A. The airport’s cargo terminal, with an area of 9,000 square meters, is located northeast of the passenger terminal. The loading dock can accommodate up to two aircraft simultaneously. Current use of the cargo terminal does not exceed 30% of its capacity.
In the year of 2016, the airport handled 2,911,703 passengers and 34,527t of cargo with 40,321 air operations.
