Nội Bài International Airport (IATA code: HAN, ICAO code: VVNB) is the largest airport in Vietnam in terms of total capacity and cargo transport, as well as the second busiest airport for passenger traffic, after Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Located in Phu Minh Commune in Sóc Sơn District, about 35 kilometres (21 miles) northeast of downtown Hanoi, it is currently the main airport serving Hanoi, replacing the role of Gia Lam Airport.
The airport consists of two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 serves domestic flights, and has a capacity of handling 15 million passengers annually. While the newly built Terminal 2 (inaugurated on 4 January 2015) serves all international flights to and from Hanoi and has a designed capacity of 10 million passengers per annum.
Covering an area of 650 hectares, the airport is the second-largest airport in Vietnam, behind the 800 hectare Tan Son Nhat International Airport. In 2019, it handled 29,304,631 passengers, which represented an increase of 13.1% from the previous year, and 708,580 tonnes of cargo.
