Phuket International Airport (IATA code: HKT, ICAO code: VTSP) is an international airport serving the Phuket Province of Thailand. It is in the north of Phuket Island, 32 kilometres (20 miles) from the centre of Phuket City.
The airport plays a major role in Thailand's tourism industry, as Phuket Island is a popular resort destination. It is the third-busiest airport in Thailand in terms of passengers, after Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region.
The airport has three terminals: Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and Terminal X. Terminal 2 is used for international flights, and Terminal 3 for domestic flights, while Terminal X for charter flights opened in February 2014.
The airport underwent an expansion which completed in 2016 and increases its capacity to 20 million passengers a year from its previous capacity of 6.5 million. It handled a total of 18,118,440 passengers in 2019, among which the international number is 10,666,178 and the domestic number is 7,452,262. Aircraft movements decreased 2.29% to 115,576, with 65,167 international and 50,409 domestic. The cargo handled amounted to 52,712t.
