Kisumu International Airport (IATA code: KIS, ICAO code: HKKI), is the third-busiest airport in Kenya and the country's fourth international airport. Located on the North Western corner of Kisumu City, a city on the shores of Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in Africa, it is bordered on the West and South by the lake and on the East and North by the Kisumu-Busia highway. It is a center of trade between the East African countries due to its proximity to their borders.
The airport is set for a second phase of a 4.9 billion shilling expansion that will include the construction of a parallel taxiway, cargo apron and associated facilities.
