Khartoum International Airport (IATA: KRT, ICAO: HSSK) is the principal airport in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, serving as the country's main gateway to the world. Khartoum airport is situated in the heart of the capital. The current facility will be replaced by the New Khartoum International Airport in Omdourman 40 kilometers south of the centre of Khartoum in 2022. This is planned to have two 4000 metre runways, a passenger terminal of 86,000 square metres and a 300-room international hotel. Construction is to be carried out by China Harbour Engineering Co. (CHEC).
