Laoag International Airport (IATA Code:LAO,ICAO Code: RPLI) is the main airport serving the general area of Laoag, the capital city of the province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. It is the only airport in Ilocos Norte and is the northernmost international airport in the Philippines.It has one 2,784-meter runway and is designated as a secondary international airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.Years ago,it can only accommodate a combined number of 140 international and domestic passengers. But through the joint initiatives and development projects pursued by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), it can now serve 200 international passengers and 240 domestic passengers.In 2017,more than 160 thousand passengers from domestic and international flights arrived at or departed from this airport and it handles over 3 thousand tones of cargo in total.
