Mandalay International Airport (IATA code: MDL, ICAO code: VYMD) is one of only three international airports in Myanmar. Located 35 kilometers south of Mandalay in Tada-U, approximately an hour by car from the city center of Mandalay it connects 11 domestic and seven international destinations.
Completed in 1999, the airport was the largest and most modern airport in the country until the modernization of Yangon International Airport in 2008. The capacity of the airport is estimated to be 3 million passengers per annum, with expansion capacity to more than 15 million. In 2017, the airport handled a total of 1,320,945 passengers with 25,073 aircraft movement.
