The airport is 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the city, near the village of M'Vengue. As a commercial traffic aerodromet, it is the third largest airport in Gabon, which is serviced by six cargo and passenger carriers with frequent scheduled services to the nation’s capital Libreville. The airport is also home to the Gabonese Air Force.
