Nagasaki Airport (IATA code: NGS, ICAO code: RJFU) is an international airport serving Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Located 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) west of the railway station in the city of Ōmura and 18 kilometers (11 miles) north northeast of the Nagasaki railway station, it is designed for both military and public use.
The mainland portion of the airport opened as a military aerodrome in 1923, and commenced civilian joint use as Omura Airport in 1955. The current island runway and terminal opened on May 1, 1975, and became Japan's first full-scale airport built over water.
The airport saw a peak in the number of passengers passing through its doors right before the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic in 2019 and that was more than 3 million.
