Pisa International Airport (IATA code: PSA, ICAO code: LIRP), also named Galileo Galilei Airport, is the main airport in Tuscany serving Pisa in Italy. It is located along the coast at only 1 kilometers from the city of Pisa.
Besides civilian operations, the airport is also used extensively by the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force) and is a base for, amongst others, the C-130 Hercules and C-27J Spartan transport aircraft.
The airport had its own railway station with a service to and from Pisa Central railway station but this was closed on December 15, 2013 to allow construction work to begin on a new fully automatic connection known as the Pisa Mover to take passengers to Pisa Central. The Pisa Mover came into operation on March 18, 2017.
The airport is the 10th in Italy in terms of passengers. In 2020, it handled a total of 1,315,066 passengers, featuring a decrease of 75.6% from the previous year, and more than 12,995 tons of cargo, with 16,750 aircraft movements, a decrease of 60.9% from 2019.
