Lapangan Terbang Sandakan Airport(IATA Code:SDK, ICAO Code: WBKS) is a domestic airport which serves Sandakan, a town in the east Malaysian state of Sabah. It is located 14 km west of downtown Sandakan and is owned by the government of Malaysia. The operated destinations are quite limited,including Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kudat,Lahad Datu, and Tawau. The busiest route out of Sandakan Airport by Frequency is to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. On 7 May 2017, Prime Minister Najib Razak announced an allocation of RM 80 million for the airport runway extension project. The extension project commenced in 2019, but completion is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
