Shiraz International Airport (IATA code: SYZ, ICAO code: OISS) is the main international airport of Fars province and the southern region of Iran and the largest airport in the southern region of Iran.
The airport has two main passenger terminals which are connected to each other. The domestic Terminal or Terminal 1, covering an area of 16,000 square meters is the older and larger than the other terminal, and exclusively handles domestic flights within Iran. The international Terminal or Terminal 2 is used for all scheduled and charter international flights. A new international terminal with an area of 21,000 square meters is under construction for international flights and is due to be built by 2024. After its completion the current International Terminal will be used for Hajj flights.
After undergoing renovation and redevelopment work in 2005, the airport was identified as the second most reliable and modern airport in Iran, after Tehran International Airport, in flight safety, including electronic and navigation control systems of its flight tower.
In this airport, 120 domestic flights and 10 foreign flights are performed daily. In 2019, the airport handled a total of 3,530,525 passengers, an increase of 7% from the previous year, and 32,982 tons of cargo, an increase of 7% from the previous year, with 33,857 aircraft movement.
