Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (IATA code: TRV, ICAO code: VOTV) or Trivandrum International Airport, is an international airport which serves the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India. It is located approximately 3.7 kilometers (2.3 miles) due west from the city centre, 16 kilometers (9.9 miles) from Kovalam beach, 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) from Technopark and 21 kilometers (13 miles) from the Vizhinjam International Seaport.
Established in 1932, it is the first airport in the state of Kerala and fifth international airport of India, officially declared in 1991. Spreading over an area of 700 acres (280 hectares), the airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights (except Air India), and Terminal 2 is for all international flights as well as all domestic flights of Air India. Terminal 1 has an area of 9,200 square meters (99,000 square feet) and can handle 400 passengers at a time. Terminal 2 covers an area of 35,000 square meters (380,000 square feet). The annual handling capacity of the terminal will be 1.8 million.
The airport is the eighth busiest airport in India in terms of international traffic and the twenty fourth–busiest overall in India. In fiscal year 2018–19, the airport handled more than 4.4 million passengers with a total of 33,093 aircraft movements. From April 2020 to March 2021, it handled a total of 14,799t of cargo, representing a decrease of 42%.
