Vanimo Airport (IATA code: VAI, ICAO code: AYVN) is a small airport in Vanimo, Papua New Guinea, located approximately 41.9 miles (67.4 km) east of Jayapura and about 46.8 miles (75.3 km) east of Abepura.
The airport has been undergoing a major facelift to its infrastructure since 2014 through the Civil Aviation Development Investment Program (CADIP), which is implemented by the National Airports Corporation.
In addition to the ongoing new infrastructure developments taking place within the airport is the construction of a new terminal building which is anticipated to be completed by October 2021. The new terminal is spacious and will have a holding capacity of more than 100 people compared to the old terminal that was constructed more than 30 years ago and quite small with a holding capacity of 30 people, which has since deteriorated.
