Hosea Kutako International Airport (IATA code: WDH, ICAO code: FYWH) is the main international airport of Namibia, serving the capital city Windhoek. Located well east of the city, 45 km (28 mile), it is Namibia's largest airport with international connections.
Originally opened in 1964 under the South African administration, the airport used to be named J.G. Strijdom Airport, after then Prime Minister of South Africa and it was renamed after Namibia’s first nationalist leader Hosea Kutako International Airport in 1990.
In the year of 2018, the number of passengers handled by the airport reached to a peak of 1,037,794, tripled that of 2003.
