It is located approximately 14 kilometres (8.7 miles) east of Wadi Halfa, approximately 181 miles (291.2 kilometers) southwest of Aswan and about 206 miles (331.5 kilometers) southwest of Kawm Umbū.
The airport is small in size and has two runways; one is 2,000 meters (6,562 feet) in length, the other 318 meters (1,043 feet). In 2012, the Sudanese government was reported to be planning to build a new airport at Wadi Halfa.
