Yakutsk Airport (IATA code: YKS, ICAO code: UEEE) is a public international airport serving Yakutsk, Russia. It is located in the Far Eastern Federal District in the North-East of Russia, 7 kilometers from the center of Yakutsk in the Gagarinsky district.
Since June 29, 2012, the airport’s new terminal has been serving passengers. The old building has become one with the new terminal and is designed to serve passengers of international flights.
The airport is capable of handling 700 passengers per hour. According to the results of 2018, in terms of passenger service, it is in 34th position among 300 airports in Russia.
The importance of the airport for the republic, which has a huge territorial extent and areas that are difficult to access for land transport, can hardly be overestimated. It accounts for more than 80% of the total passenger traffic in the air transport of Yakutia. It is expected that in the near future, in the context of the formation of a unified transport system, when the Yakutsk multimodal transport hub is formed at the junction of railway, air, waterways and a network of supporting federal and regional roads, the importance of the airport will increase even more
