Port of Refuge
Port of refuge is a port, not on a ship's itinerary, which the ship calls at due to some unforeseen hazard at sea and where the ship may undergo repairs, refuel, or rescue cargo.
Port of refuge is a port, not on a ship's itinerary, which the ship calls at due to some unforeseen hazard at sea and where the ship may undergo repairs, refuel, or rescue cargo. It is a situation wherein a vessel has to be diverted to a port because of an emergency which has made it unsafe to sail further.
