The Port of Houston is one of the world's largest ports, serving the metropolitan area of Houston, Texas. Right now, however, the Port of Houston in Texas is becoming a serious consideration as an alternative to the Ports at Los Angeles, Long Beach and even New York/New Jersey when it comes to importing containers from Asia.
Why? We all know that time is money. Retailers cannot wait 2 months for their goods to clear West Coast Ports. The key is to the cut down the shipping or transport time out of Southeast Asia to the West Coast. While the shipping times to the West Coast to the Port of Los Angeles is experiencing huge congestion, many companies tend to find another port that is the Port of Houston apart from resorting to aircraft.
Naturally, the shipping demand in the Port of Houston is climbing up. Unluckily, the port is suffering from the sluggish operation efficiency, which is cause by shortage of the crane workers and tow-trunk drivers.
Actually, such dilemma is the epitome of the embarrassment faced by the whole world. Currently, the situation of the shipping industry is not optimistic due to the pandemic. Shipping pressure caused by the imbalance between demand and supply will not ease until the Spring Festival is approaching in February 2022 . Because at that time, the factory will shut down temporarily so that the shipping demand will decrease. The long-term situation will depend on the control of the pandemic.
When will the pandemic can be under control? Only time will tell!
