Yantian International Container Terminal announced that it maintained normal operation since the escalation of local Covid-19 prevention and controls and is making great efforts to keep the supply chain running smoothly in the Great Bay area, as well as the materials supply supporting Hong Kong.
Shenzhen, a city bordering Hong Kong that is the hub of China’s tech sector and electronics manufacturing industries, announced on Sunday night a lockdown for seven days (14th Mar. ~ 20th Mar.).
The Shenzhen Municipal Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters ordered the city's more than 17 million residents into a week-long lockdown on Sunday when 75 locally transmitted cases were confirmed.
Apart from public service enterprises which are to ensure the livelihood of the public and the basic operation of the city's water, electricity, fuel, gas, communications, sanitation, oil and foodstuff supply and enterprises responsible for the supplying of Hong Kong, all enterprises should have a telecommuting and suspend production and business activities. Supermarkets, farmers’ markets, pharmacies, medical institutions and express delivery services will be allowed to stay open.
The city's buses, subway suspended except the transportation ensuring the normal operation of the city and supplies of Hong Kong freight.

SEKO Logistics’ COVID-19 advisory note on Sunday explained that because of the weeklong lockdown in Shenzhen, “no cargo will be able to load in Yantian … and vessels most likely will omit the port.”
But on Monday afternoon, SEKO issued a corrected advisory. “We have been advised that Yantian port terminals are operating and loading cargo,” the amendment stated.
According to Hutchison Ports YANTIAN, since the strengthening of the epidemic prevention policy in Shenzhen, YANTIAN has been maintaining normal and smooth operations. At present, all operations in YANTIAN and the surrounding trailer business are operating normally. On one hand, YANTIAN complies with the COVID prevention and control measure strictly; on the other hand, YANTIAN also strives to smooth the supply chain of the Greater Bay Area.
