Acre port (port code: ILACR) is one of the oldest preserved ports in the world. It is situated at the north extremity of Haifa Bay on the coast of the Mediterranean's Levantine Sea.
The port used to be a the base for a Persian attack on Egypt, having seen hundreds of ships come and go, bringing supplies, soldiers, and horses to the Levant. Nowadays, since a bigger port, Haifa's port is open and especially because its waters are very shallow and not suitable for today's ships, the port has silted up and has become secondary to Haifa’s across the bay. It is used only by small fishing boats. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 87 meters.
