Aden port (port code: YEADE) is a medium-sized port in Yemen. It is located on the southern coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden, approximately 95 nautical miles east of the Strait of Bab al Mandeb at the southern entrance to the Red Sea, and between the promontories of Aden (Jebel Shamsan, 553m) and Little Aden (Jebel Muzalqam, 374m).
The port is protected from the northeast and southwest monsoons by hills, enabling it to operate without restriction all year. Approximately 2,000 vessels and 15,600,000t of cargo, including 380,000TEU are handled in this port annually. The types of vessels regularly calling at YEADE are bulk carrier (26%), container ship (17%), oil/chemical Tanker (14%), general cargo (13%) and oil products tanker (7%). The main exports from the port are oil products, salt, frozen fish, manufactured foodstuffs, flour and scrap steel. Main imports include crude oil, bulk and bagged foodstuffs, construction materials, lubricants, vehicles, general cargo and livestock.
The port consists of the outer harbour, providing anchorage areas, the oil harbour at Little Aden on the west side of the harbour, and the inner harbour to the east.
