Akranes port (port code: ISAKR) in Iceland is a medium-sized commercial and fishing centre located at the western extremity of a belt of grassland surrounding the mountain mass of Akorafjall, approximately 10 nautical miles north-northwest of Reykjavik, close to the waterfalls Barnafoss and Hraunfoss and the glacier Snæfellsjökull.
The port handles cement products, fish, fish meal, and fish oil as well as passenger traffic. Approximate 130,000 tons of fish, 167,000 tons of import and export cargoes, which included approximate 110,000 tons of chalk sand are handled in this port annually.
