Alesund Port (port code: NOAES) is situated on the northwest coast of Norway, 380 kilometers north of Bergen. It is the largest port in the area.
The port is divided into the northern harbour with depths from 10.0-13.0 meters and the southern harbour with depths from 13.0-16.0 meters. It has mooring facilities for laying up vessels of all sizes and has become Europe's largest lay-up harbour. It handles all types of vessels ranging from container vessels, fishing vessels, cruise ships and pleasure boats.
The port handles approximately 1.9 million tons of cargo and 40,000TEU with 16,000 vessels annually. The main exports leaving this port include fish, fish products, hydraulic machinery, ship building products and furniture. The principal imports entering this port are salt, fuel, lubricating oil, steel, machinery and manufactured goods.
