Barranquilla Port (port code: COBAQ) is Colombia’s biggest Caribbean seaport. It is situated on the Caribbean coast, 10 nautical miles upriver on the west bank of the Magdalena River.
The port includes the terminals of Monomeros, Gracetales, Vopak, Portmagdelena and SP Del Norte. It contains seven yards of about 57 thousand square meters and four warehouses covering over 17 thousand square meters.
The port handles more than 3.3 million tons of cargo and 98,700TEU annually. The main import entering this port are rolled wire, steel, bulk grain, chemicals, project cargo, scrap metals, tuna fish, food products, vehicles, containers. The principal export leaving this port are sugar, textiles, wood plates, tuna, synthetic fibres, steel and pharmaceutical products.
Each year about 870 vessels visit this port, among which around 51% are cargo vessels, 20% are dredging vessels, and 19% are tankers. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 200 meters. The maximum draught is 10.3 meters. The maximum deadweight is 64,000t.
