Basseterre Port (port code: KNBAS) is the largest port of Saint Kitts and Nevis. It is situated on the southwest side of St Kitts (St Christopher) around the shores of a sandy bay.
The port is principally a sugar exporting port but also handles the import of bulk, breakbulk, containers, Ro-Ro and general cargo in St Kitts Deep Water Port. It handles approximately 270,000t of cargo annually. Principal imports entering this port include general cargo, petroleum products, LPG, cement and building materials. Chief exports leaving this port are sugar, molasses, soft drinks and concrete blocks.
Each year about 1,150 vessels visit this port, among which around 49% are passenger ships. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 360 meters. The maximum draught is 9.3 meters. The maximum deadweight is 20,294t.
