Benghazi Port (port code: LYBEN) is a large commercial port in the northeast of Sirte Bay, Libya. It is situated on the northeast coast of the Gulf of Sidra.
The port has seven berths. It also includes eight transit sheds covering about 17.5 thousand square meters, and ample open storage yards are available. It offers facilities for handling break bulk, liquid and dry bulk. The main exports leaving this port include sheep, wool, hides, goat's hair fabrics and woollen rugs. The principal imports entering this port include foodstuffs, tobacco, textiles, pottery and chemical products.
The port is equipped to handle tankers, containers, Ro-Ro and general cargo vessels. Each year approximately 245 vessels visit the port, among which around 80.5% are cargo vessels, and 19.5% are tankers. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 200 meters. The maximum draught is 10.5 meters. The maximum deadweight is 53,021t.
