Birganj port (port code: NPBRG/NPBIR) is the main entry to Nepal. It is Nepal's first dry port constructed in 2000 AD by Nepal Government.
The dry port came in operation from 16 July 2004. Covering an area of 38 hectares including customs office, four shed houses, terminal buildings, weighing bridges, two banks, six lines for train container yard, the port can manage 1,586 containers at a time. It is connected by train owned by Indian Railways to Raxaul in India.
